ABOUT THE BLOGGER
My name is Charlotte Nikitopoulos and I have been living in Greece for the past 4 years. I originally hail from Cape Town, SA, having spent the majority of my time in Cape Town.
Looking back, I realize that my mother was my biggest fashion inspiration. She had an incredible fashion sense. When my sisters and I were small, she MADE us the cutest outfits. I still marvel at how she could copy a design from a magazine, draw the pattern and make the outfit with no formal education in Fashion Design.
As children, we were always dressed differently to the rest of the children in our neighborhood and since then, the sense of “having your own style” has been instilled in me. Thank goodness that we were also confident, self assured children who never felt as if they “stood out like a sore thumb” among their peers. I always felt like I was being trendsetter, leading the way for fashion with the stunning outfits my mother created.
Coming from a small town, it was impressed upon me that I am privileged to have the opportunity to go study further than high school. I started studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at University (fitting in with main stream society) but in my second year, I could no longer ignoring the passion to be creative. I enrolled in the School of Fashion design and graduate in Fashion and Textile design. I think that my mom was secretly very proud of me but was also scared that I would fail.
The fashion industry is a difficult one to make your mark in. But if you don’t try, you will never know if you are successful. And I am making my mark…one blog at a time
I find my inspiration for fashion in people, art, music and nature. I truly understand what Confucius meant when he said:
My personal style is Chic Street style. I like to take timeless, classic pieces and incorporate fashion pieces into it. The basics in my wardrobe are classics, which you cannot go wrong with, and I am constantly updating my wardrobe with the fashion pieces which changes from season to season.
When adding something classic to my wardrobe, it is essential that I am able to mix and match it with a large part of my existing wardrobe.
In addition to my career in fashion, I was fortunate to work with social services and non profit organizations in underprivileged communities. I find my happiness while in the service to others.
The internet has allowed me to express myself creatively and keeps me connected to people all over the world.
I have come to realize that I am good with people, and know what would suit someone’s body shape and am able to provide constructive criticism in a gentle and subtle manner. My hope is that I inspire someone/anyone enough to realize that they have the potential to do anything that their heart desires.
I am living my dream! I am living my passion! I am living my style!
Thank you for reading and going on this journey of fashion with me.
Be YOU. Be FABULOUS.
